Alec looked up,"Said what? No need to apologize for anything, you didn't do anything..." he shook his head. "I just blushed, that was all..." he admitted, he didn't find any reason he should hide it. "So still up for a walk?" he asked, hoping to calm down his own feelings.
It was a strange experience, since he hadn't crushed on anyone in years. He was pretty sure she was just being nice. 'Cute' caught him off guard, sweet?! He almost felt dizzy, why now? Why here? the feeling passed as swiftly as it came. 'Oh damnit...I'm crushing on someone I hardly know..this is bad!' he thought to himself. He flicked the hair from his face.
He looked around, why was it so dark here? He walked out into the light, he squinted his eyes for a second. There were a few people walking down the hall, but they turned. Wow, it was so empty today. He turned around to look at her again, but this time he didn't look away.

Clarissa straightened when he looked back up again and smiled warmly. "Sure." She followed him out the door and squinted as they left planetarium. She noticed how empty the building was and sighed. How long had she been here, anyways?
She opened her mouth to say something, but stopped when he turned towards her. She closed her mouth and held his gaze, not looking away like she usually did. In the light, she could see him better, and she wondered how he could possibly be single.
"Umm..." she said, forgetting what she was going to say. The silence was awkward, but she didn't look away or blush. What was this feeling? It wasn't love, but more than friendship.

Alec smirked and looked away toward the sun. He saw a lot of people outside, some stared at him, he was used to that. He heard her speak and immediately flicked his gaze back to her. He cocked his head as if trying to figure out what she was going to say.
"You okay?" he finally asked. He knew she was, so why did he ask? He felt guilty. "I mean, like, what are you saying?" he said, and realized that sounded weird too. He chewed on his lip, slowly. He had a ton of nervous habits. Some people thought were cute, others people found strange. He watched her, she stared back. It was almost as if there was some constant vibe, and it was only an hour they had been talking. The first day, the first Millisecond in time that they would get to know each other; he hoped.
He stuffed his loose hand in his pocket. He looked away again, he didn't want it to be awkward. Hopefully she knew he kind of liked her, okay so he did like her. But he wouldn't let her know that for at least another day, or not. He shifted his weight to the left side. He caught a few glances, usually people looked away, those that didn't, would. He thought it was funny how people didn't like looking 'the admired' in the eyes. Yet, for some reason, that had never been a problem with him. He just didn't want to stare at people, unless he knew they didn't care.

What had she been going to say? Clarissa couldn't remember. She blushed, again, not being able to hide it this time in the darkness. "Um..." she began again, trying to think of something to say. Wow, she felt stupid. "Where do you want to go? For the walk, I mean?" She crossed her arms across her stomach, a habit. For some reason, that made her feel safer, as if her arms were protecting her from... well, she wasn't really sure. She just felt more secure. Not that she was really protecting herself from anything in particular. Or maybe she was protecting herself from the awkward silences that were growing more frequent now.
She didn't usually fall for boys so quickly, even if she'd had a lot of secret crushes in the past. She wondered if he liked her too. She didn't really have much experience with boys, having lived on a farm almost her whole life. And her brothers weren't much help with this sort of thing.

Alec laughed when she blushed. "Shy huh?" he asked. He laughed again,"I dunno, how about on the track, it's made for walking and running." he shrugged. He flicked the hair from his face and bit his lip. He was definitely crushing on her, only what was worse was, he couldn't stop the feeling. He exhaled heavily, he looked up at the sky, the sun beamed down. Once and a while there was a chilly breeze, and his dark clothes made the heat worse. He ran his hand through his hair, it was pretty hot outside.
He looked back at her and laughed. He walked over and took her hand,"I'm going to walk you there, in case you need help." he teased her and smiled at her. That was the first time he had flirted, openly. He looked around again, people were still staring. "Man people like to stare at guys in tight jeans..." he said raising an eyebrow. He started to walk pulling her along after him gently, he'd let go of her hand when he knew she was walking.

"Yeah, sort of," she answered, grinning. She nodded, not caring where they went for a walk. Hell, she'd walk with him through a Dump if it meant they could still walk together. Well, maybe not a Dump....
She took off her jacket and tied it around her waist, revealing a simple black t-shirt underneath. For Febuary, it sure was hot outside. Clarissa look around and saw several people staring. She met their gazes, irritated, and they quickly turned away.
She almost gasped as he took her hand. She hadn't seen him reach for it. "Why, thank you, sir," she replied in a formal voice, raising an eyebrow. She allowed him to pull her along, grinning as she did. She hoped he wouldn't let go of her hand. For some reason, it felt... nice. She liked the way his hand wound around hers, even if it wasn't meant to be an affectionate gesture.

Alec chuckled. He let go of her hand when she started walking. He still didn't believe she was single. He flicked the hair from his face,"So you do like theater right? Correct me if I'm wrong." he asked, his voice yet again calm and breezy. He looked at her and smirked.
He continued walking, now that people had stopped staring he felt more comfortable. He suddenly wished he had not let go of her hand, he bit his lip while thinking. Why was he the lucky one to have at least been walking by when she had felt bad? Why was he crushing on her?
Her parents would never accept him. He grinned suddenly at that, he'd dated a lot of people whose parents thought he was weird. It was just how it was. The thought worried him though, what if she didn't or ended up not liking him? He clenched his hand that held the book. He closed his eyes tightly for a second. He didn't want to worry about it, tomorrow he'd feel differently. But he knew he was dead wrong, just another lie to himself.

Still grinning like an idiot, Clarissa followed, a step behind. The sun was erasing what was left of her homesickness and she had an urge to skip along beside him, but decided against it. She'd already embarrassed herself enough today.
"Yes I do," she said happily. "Theatre is my life. Its... wonderful when you can take on another life." It was hard explaining it to someone, especially someone who wasn't in theatre. She bit her lower lip lightly, thinking.
"And what about you?" she asked finally. "I've never seen you around campus... what are you studying?" As she said this, he let go of her hand and she almost sighed, but managed to repress it. She dropped her hand to her side, swinging it lightly as she walked alongside him.

Alec smirked,"Chemistry." he said. "Please continue. Tell me about Theatre, why do you like it?" he looked at her and smiled. She seemed happier, he would do his best not to bring up the homesickness subject.
He pulled at his shirt and looked away,"You mean like this? You can be whoever you want to be, not just yourself...No matter what they think, you can always say. 'I'm not that anymore...' I know what you mean." he smirked. "I haven't been myself for years. Not necessarily a theatre experience, in my own 'mask', there was no changing back."
He continued walking,"I'm kind of on the right track, correct?" he asked. He looked at her again, in this case he wasn't teasing her. He was serious, he just decided to make it seem like it didn't hurt him.

She listened intently and her grin softened into a warm smile. She wondered who was behind his 'mask', who he had been before. Still, she didn't want to snoop. "Yeah, you're right," she replied, nodding. She turned away and saw the track up ahead. In this heat, no one was running. Only a few couples getting some alone time on the bleachers.
"Nobody ever thought I would be able to attend college. I was supposed to grow up and buy my own farm and die a poor farmer's wife..." she sighed, sticking her tongue out like a child so it wouldn't look like she cared all that much. "But my Ma and Pa have six children, so it wouldn't matter if one of them didn't carry on the family tradition, right?" She turned to look at him, still smiling.

Alec chuckled,"My parents didn't care much about what I did. At least your family had "plans". I was usually drunk and making horrible grades." he shook his head. "I wasn't going to go, but my parents sent me here for Chemistry. I don't even know why, but I enjoy it here. I can do as I please...somewhat." he shrugged.
He shook his head,"Six children. Try explaining that to my parents, they only had one and I basically drove them nuts. And nah, one child couldn't screw up a tradition..." He smiled, he jumped the small fence opening the gate for her to the track.
He looked around,"Good to know we have an audience." he said in a small almost annoyed voice. He turned to look at her,"So what do you want to do, walk, sit...?" he asked raising an eyebrow. A breeze came through, it felt good, for he had on dark clothes. If it wasn't for the almost constant breezes he'd be miserable. He ran his hand through his hair, moving the bangs from his face. He bit his lip looking around again. He rubbed his chin with his hand, he'd have to shave again later on.

Clarissa frowned at the mention of him being drunk. She'd never seen any of her family members drink alcohol and it was a rare sight for her to see someone drinking, but here at the university, it looked as though almost everyone drank. Is it really that tasty...? she thought, but decided she wouldn't try it anytime soon.
She smiled as he opened the gate for her and said a small 'thanks'. The few people on the bleachers didn't seem to notice, and Clarissa avoided looking at them. It wasn't polite and she just didn't want to deal with the awkwardness if they looked over and caught her looking, even if it was just a glance.
"Let's walk..." she said quietly, motioning towards the couples with a small nod of her head. It would too awkward to talk about anything when you had two lovebirds making out behind you. Truthfully, she was in the mood to run, but then they wouldn't have time to talk to each other, and Clarissa liked it when he talked.

Alec nodded,"Fair enough." he chuckled trying not to stare at the people in the bleachers. He stepped out onto the track, he missed Cross Country. He looked at her for a second before moving his gaze on the track, he watched the track ahead before looking around. It was a big track, which was good.
He flicked the hair from his face and messed with his right lip piercing. He thought he'd break the silence, whether it was awkward or not, he wanted to know the answer. "So do you believe in like crushing on people or love at first sight? Anything like that?" he said. He looked at her for a second, but his face was straight as always. But he smiled before looking away again, he looked to the left to hide a big smile and held back a laugh. He didn't know why he found that funny, but he did. He fought for control of the smile and hid it before looking at her again.

As they stepped onto the track, Clarissa reached up to tie her hair into a ponytail with a hairband she used as a bracelet. The sun seemed to get hotter as the day crawled by, and it made her hair a brilliant fiery red. She didn't like it when her hair stood out like that. She wished she had her hat.
"So do you believe in like crushing on people or love at first sight?"
Clarissa stopped, but only for a second and she walked faster to catch up with him. "Yes, I do," she answered, blushing. "My ma met my pa at a chicken farm when my granddaddy was buying chickens and she says it was love at first sight. Like they knew they were supposed to be together." She smiled and looked at the cloudless sky. "What about you?"

Alec shrugged. He smirked,"Well, this morning I wouldn't have, but now I do." he had a feeling this would lead to a whole. 'What?' scene, but so be it. He thought it better to go ahead and get it out, than to have to think about it, day after day just hoping to catch a glimpse of her. He shrugged with small smirk.
He worried if that was the wrong thing to say. He ran his hand through his hair again, he wished a breeze would come through soon. The good thing was, if he blushed, it might look like he was hot. He let out a sigh, and shook his head.
